CLEVELAND, Ohio – Space might be the final frontier, but that doesn't mean you have to go thirsty when exploring the universe.

The folks at Shmaltz Brewing Co. of Clifton Park, New York, are releasing a pair of beers to mark the 50th anniversary of the original Star Trek television series.

Star Trek Golden Anniversary Ale: The Trouble With Tribbles is out now; Voyage To The Northeast Quadrant will be released in September.

The Trouble With Tribbles keeps with a space theme: It's made with out-of-this-world-sounding Comet, Polaris, Aurora, Admiral (Kirk) and Vic Secret hops.

Voyage To The Northeast Quadrant has Warrior, Vic Secret, Simcoe, 007 and Citra hops.

Each beer is a relatively low 5 percent alcohol.

The series ran only 1966 to 1969 yet has remained engrained in pop culture for every generation since, having spawned several series and more than a dozen films based on the original and its sequels. The movie "Star Trek Beyond" was released this year.

The original series carried hourlong plots despite being mired in 1960s bare-bones special effects. Starring William Shatner as Captain James T. Kirk, it follows the explorations of the Enterprise in the 23rd Century.

"The Trouble with Tribbles" refers to one of the more famous episodes of the original series. In it, a seemingly cute, furry little being known as a Tribble eventually turns into multiple cute, furry little annoying Tribbles aboard the Enterprise.
